The Grande-Dixence Dam

The Grande Dixence dam is one of the most important unique attractions in the area. It is the highest gravity dam in the world: the Eiffel Tower of the Val d’Hérens. It collects and stores water from 35 Valais glaciers. First filled in 1957, this masterpiece holds several records. Its wall, standing at 285 metres in height, remains unequalled to date. Its weight of 15 million tons makes it heavier than the Great Pyramid of Giza. An ideal place for an outing with friends and family.

The Grande Dixence road is open from mid June till the end of October 2020 (according to conditions).

Guided tours inside the wall from mid-June to the end of September, every day:
11.30 / 13.30 / 15.00 / 16.30.
