The Grande-Dixence Dam

Beyond the technical feat, this is an exceptional site set in a breathtaking alpine landscape. Open from mid-June to mid-October, it can be accessed by car via a mountain road or by the Theytaz bus line. Upon arrival, you'll find free parking. At the foot of the giant, the adventure begins. Book your guided tour inside the dam wall, relive the history of this monumental project by visiting the exhibition centers, and take the cable car that will lift you 285 meters higher, to the top of the dam.

• The La Dixence cable car operates from the opening of the road until mid-October (or possibly until the end of October, depending on weather conditions). In less than 5 minutes, it will take you higher, offering a spectacular view of the valley as you reach the top of the dam. A short yet thrilling journey.
