Randonner à la Grande Dixence
The Grande Dixence region is a true paradise for hikers. With breathtaking landscapes, varied trails, and high-mountain huts, every step brings you closer to the wild yet welcoming heart of the Alps.
This area is part of a federal wildlife reserve, where hunting is prohibited — making it an ideal place to spot marmots, ibexes, and chamois in their natural habitat.
Lac des Dix Trail
This easy, scenic trail follows a gravel road along the lake from the top of the dam to the far end. It’s a peaceful out-and-back route — note that you cannot walk around the entire lake, but the changing views make it well worth the effort.
IBeX TRAIL
This interpretive trail offers insight into the local wildlife, plants, and the history of the dam’s construction, with informative signs along the way. A fun and enriching hike, perfect for families and nature lovers.
Thyon–Dixence Route
This more athletic route follows the legendary mountain race of the same name. Expect breathtaking vistas, alpine paths, and balcony-style sections — ideal for experienced hikers looking for a challenge.
Dixence – Cabane des Dix traverse
A classic alpine route leading to the Cabane des Dix, a stunning high-altitude hut nestled among the peaks. A perfect start to a multi-day adventure through the Alps.

From early July to late September, conditions are usually ideal: clear trails, mild weather, and nature at its most vibrant.
