Randonnée pédestre
The Lac des Dix path
Val des Dix/Pralong
Follow the old road built during the construction of the spectacular Grande Dixence dam. This easy, wide trail runs peacefully along the lake des Dix, surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery, all the way to its far end.
The route begins by passing through five rock tunnels, two of which are lit for your comfort. As you exit the last tunnel, a magnificent panorama unfolds: towering peaks, glittering glaciers, and the serene silence of the mountains.
The path then leads through alpine pastures, where, with a bit of luck, you may spot ibex, marmots, and from mid-July, cows grazing peacefully. At the end of the lake, an impressive waterfall marks the highlight of the walk — the outflow of waters collected between Zermatt and Arolla to feed the dam.
You’ll then retrace your steps, enjoying once more the majestic beauty of this alpine landscape
Practicable: from mid-June to mid-October
