HIRs - Collective performance under the Euseigne Pyramid Tunnel

It is the autumn equinox, the time of year when the serpentinites beneath the Pyramides d'Euseigne tunnel begin to vibrate again. This is the second awakening since the completion of HIRs in 2024. At their core, they resonate with their parent rocks, which form the constellation of the serpent in the Val d'Hérens and Val d'Hérémence.

HIRs (2024 - ∞) A work that stretches like a snake through human and geological time, in the Val d'Hérens and the stars. It offers a way to connect with the ancient memories of the place through the rocks, to listen to them in order to generate together the continuation of our common erosion-elevation-mutation. Encountering these stones reveals the places in which they are found, just as the stones reveal the places themselves. Created as part of the artistic intervention on the construction of the Pyramides d'Euseigne tunnel, Mobility Department, Canton of Valais, Switzerland.

Serpentinite carries within it a sound that is specific to its metamorphic nature, which touched the seabed and found itself pointing towards the stars at the top of the mountains. Its song connects us to the deep time of the earth.

Claire Frachebourg

A multidisciplinary artist who graduated in 2012 from TIP (performance school in Freiburg im Breisgau) and then in 2021 from EDHEA (School of Design and Art College of Valais), she connects with faults, holes and spaces that generate new resonances, relationships and ways of being in the world through situated listening. Their research focuses on the imagination generated by changes in physical and temporal scales. Claire Frachebourg explores the hidden potential of encounters and the imperceptible voices that surround us. HIRs is a project based on their explorations in the mountains and their sensory relationship with stone.
