Tour des alpages

Starting from the Saint-Martin Tourist Office, thise MTB route takes you through the typical and unspoiled landscapes of the Val d'Hérens. From the very first pedal strokes, a steady climb leads through the hamlets of Grange-Neuve and Prarion, along roads and trails lined with dry-stone walls, open forests and magnificent views over the valley. 

Your efforts are soon rewarded at the alpine pasture of Eison, a true natural balcony overlooking the valley. From there, the ascent continues towards the mountain inn of l'A Vieille, nestled in an exceptional natural setting at nearly 2'400 metres above sea level. Surrounded ba snow-capped peaks, peaceful silence and alpine meadows, it is the perfect place for a gourmet break. 

The route then offers a spectacular traverse along the mountainside. The trail, sometimes technical but always rewarding, winds through alpine pastures towards Loveignoz, another mountain inn. Here, you will enjoy breathtaking views of La Maya, the iconic mountain watching over the entire route. 

The final section follows a beautiful flowing descent towards the village of Suen, through forests, meadows and small hamlets. You then return peacefully to Saint-Martin, with unforgettable memories and happy legs.
