The church of Saint-Martin

The vast territory which today includes the parishes of St-Martin and Evolène has long been known as Hérens. The people of Evolène have had their own chapel since 1445. The Church dedicated to Saint Martin, who gave his name to the village and the parish, does not appear in texts before the 13th century.
