Carnival in Evolène

CARNIVAL 2026
Carnival begins on the evening of January 6, at the end of the Christmas festivities.
Young people roam throughout the municipality of Evolène, shaking cowbells all evening long. It is said that Carnival is then “awakened,” and the celebrations may begin.
From the following day, January 7, the Peluches become the masters of the village of Evolène. You may encounter them at any time, but most often on Friday and Saturday evenings, from dusk onwards.
Friday, January 23

All day – Chemeuille ski slopes
Costume ski race “Ski’arnaval”

From 6:00 pm: Musical tour through the village with the Celtic band Anach Cuan

“Leaving a 12-meter container in the middle of the village for a month: you never know, with a bit of luck it might work.”

Sporty and fun team race, roped together, through the streets and bars of Evolène.
Souvenirs for participants and prizes for the best teams.
With musical participation by the Guggen from Fribourg: Les Phoenix
Age requirement: 16+ – CHF 35.– per person

After Gossip on the Balcony (2024) and Gossip on the Terrace (2025),
Albert de l’Homazo on Streiff, the android turned human, opens a speakers’ corner in Les Haudères.
Mockery and satire guaranteed at Route du Vieux Village 61.

After Mass: Parade of Peluches and Empaillés to the sound of the Carnyx
Winter market and procession through the village
Opening of Lú Peùlyo

Masked lunch on Place du Four and Church Square
