Randonnée pédestre
Arolla - Grande Dixence
Arolla/Val d’Arolla
Reach the Grande Dixence dam via the Col de Riedmatten (2917m), the mythical passage of the Patrouille des Glaciers ski mountaineering race!
To do this, you will take a path climbing along the ski slopes of Arolla before continuing to the left of the last ski lift. Once you reach the summit, where the panorama is spectacular with a view of the Val des Dix and Arolla, you will start a nice descent to the dam by passing over the Cheilon glacier (summer crampons recommended).
The last part is a long flat section along the dam to the magnificent Grande Dixence wall (2364m), the highest gravity dam in the world. The duration of this hike is about 6h30.
