Become a witness of valaisan history : discover the Bisse of Vex !
The bisse de Vex has been an integral part of our heritage since... 1453 ! Abandoned in the second half of the 20th century, it was refurbished and re-filled with water in 1989 to the joy of all hikers.
So close to the resort and so easily accessible, one can only marvel at the peace and quiet and the coolness of the forest.
Distance : 4,3 km
Go by car to Mayens-de-Sion, follow the bisse of Vex to Veysonnaz or Planchouet and return to Mayens-de-Sion
Variant (11Km - 4h30) :
- Start from Thyon 2000 (or Les Collons ), Walk down to Mayens-de-Sion (possibility of taking public transport), follow the bisse of Vex to Veysonnaz (45 min. of easy walking)
- Return by cable car to Thyon 2000.
Extremely well maintained and closely observed during the summer months, this walk attracts a great number of visitors.
The part of the bisse between the Mayens de Sion and Veysonnaz is particularly wide and is especially enjoyable for families with (all terrain) pushchairs. The first part of the path has been evened out in order to allow disabled people to easily enjoy half of the way with their wheelchair. If accompanied the second half is also possible even though it is a little more challenging.
